DNBS&A was established the summer 2005 by the sisters Siri Aarset Johansen and Irene Aarset Jansson. After some time the elite program in ballet developed with training 6 days a week with the artistic support of Vadim Pisarev – former soloist at the Bolshoi theater and rewarded the title as “Dancer of the year `95” by UNESCO, artistic leader of the Opera in Donetsk, Ukraine, founder of ballet competition “Artek Fouette”, leader of “Serge Lifar” ballet competition and as a choreographer. Vadim Pisarev was rewarded with “The Golden Rose” for his ballet “Peer Gynt”, which was also staged by DNBS&A in 2010 in collaboration with the ballet academy in Kiev, Ukraine.
At the same time DNBS&A introduced and developed courses within different genres of dance and theater. In 2009 we were offered to continue to bring forward the school of theater and musical «Cap á Pied» which had been directed by Håvard Engell for more than 20 years. From 2011 DNBS&A moved to Carl Berners plass in Oslo and we continued developing our range of courses.
From 2015 DNBS&A Masterclass was established for full time ballet training for talents from the age of 16. After 10 years DNBS&A has contributed to some of the strongest students results within ballet and other genres of dance in Norway, and some students have started their professional careers within ballet and dance.
